Tips for a Healthy Thanksgiving

Tips for a Healthy Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, we wanted to share some helpful tips for all our health-conscious athletes and their families.

  1. Eat the most important meal of the day. We're talking about breakfast. You don't have to eat a big breakfast, just something to get your metabolism going in the morning. Eating breakfast will help control your portions during your Thanksgiving meal! It will also give you energy for the day.
  2. Start your day with the Turkey Trot! Getting some exercise in the morning or before your meal is a great way to burn some energy. If you can't find an organized event to attend, go out for a brisk walk, run with your family, or throw a football around for a bit!  It's important to have some non-food related activities. Keep us posted on any fun activities that you end up doing and share your photos with us!
  3. Add those leafy greens to your meal and get some color on your plate. You're body will thank you later for satisfying it's need for nutrients.
  4. Drink lots...of water! It's really important to stay hydrated and balance holiday drinks with water consumption. Staying hydrated will also help you from overeating!
  5. Don't stress. Holidays tend to bring stress, so wind down and relax. A chiropractic treatment, acupuncture and/or a private yoga session will help keep you balanced this holiday season.
  6. If you're traveling far, take lots of breaks and move your body. Travel smart to avoid any aches and pains. Simple posture corrections can prevent many travel related symptoms.

From all of us at Charlotte Sports Performance and Rehab we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving day and weekend filled with family, lots of rest, and health! Keep these tips in mind and come see us soon!

SIX Benefits of Sports Chiropractic for Hockey Players

SIX Benefits of Sports Chiropractic for Hockey Players

With the Stanley Cup Finals happening, we're reminded of how much of a body contact sport hockey really is. Have you ever taken a look at a team's injury roster?! Look here at the Chicago Blackhawks' injuries: What about last night's game? We saw Tampa Bay Lighting's Ben Bishop was out. Bishop, was actually injured in Game 2 but played Game 3. He is "day-to-day" with an undisclosed injury.

Here are Six Benefits of Sports Chiropractic for Hockey Players:

  1. Sports Chiropractic can help reduce painful symptoms of recurrent shoulder instability related to hockey injuries
  2. Sports Chiropractic helps aide the recovery of head trauma and concussions
  3. Sports Chiropractors help address the needs of players to optimize on-ice performance
  4. Sports Chiropractors can help improve hockey players' strength, endurance, and range of motion
  5. Routine chiropractic treatment can help recover from contusions, which are a common form of injury found with hockey players, followed by strains, and sprains
  6. Chiropractors can help with post-game recovery from collisions that produce a significant number of injuries.

Charlotte Sports Performance and Rehab, works with hockey players and all other athletes to help prevent injuries and maximize performance. Contact us for information about our treatment approach for you or your team. Email Laura@CharlotteSportsRehab.com.

2014: A Look Back

This PAST year has been spectacular! I want to personally thank you and my team for making it one to remember and be very proud of.

Here are some top 2014 CSPR highlights:

  • Opened our Charlotte Chiropractic office in April 2014
  • Welcomed a hardworking office manager to the CSPR team – Jessica, who is the front-line of our day-to-day operations
  • Participated in The Good Ride Charity Charlotte event as a vendor in May
  • Began offering NEW Corrective Exercise & Rehabilitation programs and brought on Yusuf Boyd, our Rehab Specialist, to meet the needs of our patients
  • Observed National Chiropractic Health month in October with a campaign for “Conservative Care First”
  • Supported The Greater Charlotte Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GCSPCA) with our December holiday charity initiative. With the help of our patients we raised a donation of over $100 and 45 lbs of toys, food and supplies!
  • Helped our athletes compete in and recover from: triathlons, marathons, 5K & 10K runs, cycling races, a swim around Key West Florida, lacrosse and football games, cross-fit competitions, cheerleading competitions, hockey training etc.

Thanks for being a huge part of our success in 2014 and trusting us to help you achieve your goals! We are looking forward to a new year, as we have exciting plans and new goals for 2015. Cheers to 2015 and let’s beat 2014 the CSPR way! Stay active in 2015 and enjoy life!
